BELLEVILLE -- Four people have filed suit against the driver who they claim rear-ended the vehicle in which they were riding.
Joelle Parker claims she was driving south on Hartman Lane near its intersection with Country Road in Shiloh on April 6 when defendant Gary G. Willman failed to stop and struck the rear of her vehicle. At the time of the collision, minors and co-plaintiffs Trey Parker, Jaila Parker and Aubrey Parker were riding in the vehicle with their mother, according to the complaint filed May 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Because of the collision, the Parkers were made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; received injuries to their necks, shoulders and low backs; incurred medical costs; suffered disability; and experienced pain and suffering, the suit states. In addition, Joelle Parker lost wages, the complaint says.
Willman negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner that he struck the rear of the plaintiffs' vehicle, failed to properly apply his brakes, drove too fast and followed the Parkers' vehicle too closely, the complaint says.
In their four-count complaint, the Parkers are seeking a judgment of more than $200,000, plus costs.
Thomas C. Rich and Kristina D. Cooksey of Fairview Heights will be representing them.
