Madison County Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder has been elected to Board of Directors of the Illinois Judges Association.

News of the election came via a press release from Madison County Chief Judge Ann Callis' office Tuesday morning.

Crowder, a Democrat, will serve a three-year term on the board.

She was elected May 21 at the association's annual meeting in Chicago.

The Illinois Judges Association is a state-wide body of over 900 judges and retired judges that addresses educational programs, needs and concerns related to the judiciary.

Crowder serves on several boards and councils including the Illinois State Bar Association's Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council. She is a past president of the Illinois Judges Foundation.

Crowder is also Madison County's new asbestos judge and is in the process of taking the reins from Madison County Circuit Judge Daniel Stack.

The asbestos docket transition will be fully complete July 30.
