Woman claims injuries in Centreville accident

A St. Clair County woman claims she sustained head, neck and back injuries after a driver rear-ended her.

Susan L. Veach filed a lawsuit April 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Brent L. King.

Veach claims she drove north on Illinois Route 163 at its intersection with Camp Jackson Road in Centreville on Aug. 12 when King, who drove directly behind her, failed to stop as Veach slowed to allow a large oil truck/tanker to make a wide turn onto Illinois Route 163.

The subsequent collision caused Veach to be tossed about in her vehicle, to suffer severe and intense pain, to incur substantial medical costs, to lose wages and earnings from her usual occupation and to become permanently disabled, according to the complaint.

Veach blames King for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to stop to avoid a collision and drove too fast.

In her complaint, Veach seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Bruce Carr and Mandy M. Williams of The Rex Carr Law Firm in East St. Louis will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-187.
