Big Daddy's customer claims injuries in attack

A woman claims a patron at a Belleville bar attacked her, causing her to sustain injuries to her face.

Amanda R. Williams filed a lawsuit April 9 in Madison County Circuit Court against Smeez Inc. doing business as Big Daddy's 618 and Codee M. Grundig.

Williams claims Big Daddy's served alcoholic beverages to Grundig on Jan. 19, causing her to become intoxicated and to fight Williams.

In addition to her facial injuries, Williams experienced pain, suffering and disability; lost wages; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.

Williams partially blames Big Daddy's for causing her injuries, saying it negligently failed to supervise its patrons, failed to provide adequate security and failed to take adequate precautions to prevent Williams from being assaulted.

In her two-count suit, Williams is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus costs.

Lance R. Mallon of Mallon and Hale in Wood River will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-407.
