A woman has filed suit against the tractor-trailer driver who she says struck her as she was driving on the interstate.

Nancy E. Walsh claims she was driving south on Interstate 55 near mile post 93 on Dec. 20 when defendant Harold L. Ringwald, who was driving a tractor-trailer for defendant Genesis Transportation Company, caused it to collide with Walsh's vehicle.

Because of the collision, Walsh lost wages and her earning capacity, incurred medical costs, experienced great pain and suffering and sustained a permanent disability, according to the complaint filed March 24 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Ringwald negligently failed to maintain a proper speed, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to slacken his speed when approaching Walsh's vehicle, failed to slow and change lanes upon recognizing Walsh's vehicle in the road, failed to sound his horn, failed to maintain a safe distance between the tractor trailer and his vehicle, continued to drive in adverse weather conditions despite his inability to control his vehicle and lost control of the tractor trailer, the suit states.

In her two-count complaint, Walsh seeks a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs.
