Construction worker claims company allowed him to operate dangerous tool

An East Alton man has filed suit against the construction company that he says allowed him to operate a dangerous tool, which resulted in serious injuries to his leg.

Christopher Krawczak claims he was working for Bluff City Builders as a subcontractor for defendant Lamar Construction on April 7, 2008, when the incident occurred in Granite City.

While Krawczak worked, Lamar allowed him to operate an iron demolition shear without adequate training to move and lift iron, according to the complaint filed March 31 in Madison County Circuit Court. Lamar failed to adequately supervise Krawczak while he used the iron demolition shear, the suit states.

As a result, Krawczak suffered serious injury to his leg and the internal organs of his body, the complaint says.

Krawczak is seeking a judgment of more than $75,000.

He will be represented by Bob L. Perica of The Perica Law Firm in Wood River.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-365.
