A total of seven new asbestos lawsuits were filed in Madison County Circuit Court during the week of Feb. 22 through Feb. 26.
The following complaints were filed:
--Gary C. Anderson of Iowa, a press operator from 1969 until 1986, a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1971 until 1977, a press operator for Ink Spot from 1986 until 1991, a medication aid for a residential rest home from 1993 until 2007 and a helper for Experience Work Program from 2007 until 2009, claims asbestosis. Anderson will be represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-208.
--Charlotte Andress of Alabama alleges her recently deceased husband, James Andress, developed mesothelioma after his work as a lineman, laborer and troubleshooter from 1969 until 1999. Andress will be represented by Shane F. Hampton and Paul M. Dix of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-209.
--Burton and Mary Budreau of Indiana allege Burton Budreau developed mesothelioma after his work as a delivery man at a lumberyard during his high school years, as a truck driver from 1953 until 1968, as a hodcarrier for a brick mason in 1968, as a mixman at Rostone Corp. from 1968 until 1998 and as a home remodeler in the 1970s. --Carol Davis of Alabama claims her recently deceased husband, J.L. Davis, developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer for St. Clair County from 1959 until 1965; as a laborer, calendar operator, dust collector operator and forklift operator at CAPCO from 1965 until 1984 and as a forklift operator at Temco Metals from 1986 until 1994. --Thomas Engberg of California alleges his recently deceased father, Glen Engberg, developed mesothelioma after his work as a delivery man for the San Jose Mercury News from 1948 until 1952, as a advertising layout creator at Palo Alto Times in the 1950s, as a salesman at AMPEX in the 1960s and as a salesman at Signetics from the 1970s until 1990. Glen Engberg was also secondarily exposed to asbestos fibers through his grandfather, who performed home remodeling and automobile repair work, according to the complaint. --Donna Leonard of Alabama claims her recently deceased father, Billy Castleberry, developed mesothelioma after his work as a plumber helper at Poe Plumbing Company in 1951, as a helper at Bagwell Electric Steel Casings in 1955, as a doffer at Avondale in 1956, as a helper at Hayes in 1957, as a helper at Universal Atlas Cement Company in 1958, as a truck driver at W.D. Wilkins Lumber Company from 1958 until 1959 and as a utility man, ladle man, furnace helper and caster operator at Connor Steel from 1959 until 1995. Leonard will be represented by Randy L. --Pamela Wright of Kentucky claims her recently deceased husband, Charles Wright Jr., developed mesothelioma after his work as a clerk and postal carrier at various locations throughout Kentucky from 1954 until 1997.
