A man who allegedly ran a stop sign and injured Belleville attorney Robert Sprague and his wife, St. Clair County Auditor Patty Sprague, has yet to file his answer in the October 2009 suit.
The Spragues are suing Adriano Silva for two counts of negligence for injuries they claim to have suffered when Silva ran a stop sign last year.
The suit seeks damages in excess of $50,000 per count.
The case was assigned in January to St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert LeChien.
According to the suit, Silva ran a stop sign while driving south on West Main Street in Belleville. He struck the car the Spragues were riding in.
Robert and Patty Sprague claim that they were injured, that they were hindered from their normal duties and that they have been forced to expend large sums of money due to the accident.
Robert Sprague has filed a number of class action and other lawsuits in St. Clair County.
He also is the chairman of the St. Clair County Democratic Party.
Robert Sprague is representing himself and his wife in the suit.
No attorney is yet listed for Silva.
The case is St. Clair case number 09-L-561.
