Man claims injuries in Roxana accident

A man claims he suffered severe injuries to his left shoulder, back, spinal column, nervous system and body after a driver failed to yield the right-of-way to him at an intersection.

Charles J. Schreiber filed a lawsuit Feb. 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Adam C. Sykes and Hausman Inc.

Schreiber claims he drove west on Old Alton Edwardsville Road near its intersection with Bender Road in Roxana on Oct. 3, 2003, when Sykes, who drove a vehicle owned by Hausman, failed to yield the right-of-way and struck Schreiber.

In addition to his injuries, Schreiber incurred medical costs, lost income, suffered severe pain and disability and incurred property damage, according to the complaint.

Schreiber blames Sykes for causing the accident, saying he failed to yield the right-of-way to Schreiber, failed to maintain a proper lookout and failed to keep his vehicle under control, the suit states.

In the two-count complaint, Schreiber seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus other relief the court deems just.

Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn and McGlynn in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-194.
