Terminal Railroad worker claims excruciating pain in injury suit

A Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis employee filed suit against the company, claiming he was injured while working as a trackman.

Nathan C. Monroe claims he was using a track jack to raise a rail during the course of his employment for the railroad on Aug. 12 when he suddenly felt a pop in his neck and excruciating pain in his spine, left shoulder and left arm.

Because of his injury, Monroe incurred medical costs, lost wages and experienced a diminished ability to work, labor and enjoy his normal pursuits of life, according to the complaint filed Feb. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Terminal Railroad negligently failed to provide Monroe with a safe workplace, proper tools and adequate help and provided defective equipment to perform the task, the suit states.

In his complaint, Monroe is seeking unspecified damages, plus other relief the court deems just.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-162.
