Crowder to hear motions in wrongful death case Thursday

Madison County Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder is set to hear motions in a man's wrongful death claim on behalf of his deceased wife.

The woman's doctor and her practice were dismissed from the suit last month.

Plaintiff Justin Harper is suing St. Louis University for damages in excess of $75,000 per each of the suit's six counts and costs.

Harper alleges that the hospital and doctors failed to properly order and read tests that indicated his wife, Alena, had an intracranial aneurysm and hemorrhage in December 2006.

Alena Harper later died from the conditions in January 2007.

Her doctor, Dr. Nicole Lowe, and her practice, Family Physicians of Madison County Ltd., were dismissed from the suit in January, according to a letter from defense attorney Timothy Richards to plaintiff's counsel Tom Keefe Jr.

St. Louis University remains a defendant.

Crowder is scheduled to hear motions in the case at 9 a.m.

The case is Madison case number 08-L-1061.
