The plaintiff in a negligence suit scheduled for trial Monday has asked to continue the trial.

Plaintiff Vicki Petrillo filed her motion to continue Jan. 27.

The plaintiff argues that the parties are in settlement negotiations.

Petrillo is suing Heather Bodkin for damages of $50,000 and costs for injuries she claims to have suffered when Bodkin hit her on Intersate 55/70 near Canteen Township in St. Clair County in 2006.

Petrillo alleges that Bodkin failed to look out, failed to stop and failed to apply brakes to avoid the collision.

The suit was scheduled to begin trial at 9 a.m. Monday.

Madison County Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian presides.

Petrillo is represented by Ronald Motil of Glen Carbon.

Bodkin is represented by James Hodges of Edwardsville.

The case is Madison case number 08-L-601.
