Customer sues landscaper over Quiktrip slip and fall

A man has filed suit against a convenience store and its plowing company, alleging he slipped and fell on snow and ice while walking to his car.

Russell Lovell claims that after he completed pumping gas at defendant Quiktrip, he slipped on snow and ice that defendant Timothy S. Peterson of Peterson Landscaping had plowed around the gas pumps.

According to the complaint filed Jan. 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Lovell experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical costs and lost his normal life because of his fall.

Quiktrip, Peterson and Peterson Landscaping negligently failed to properly clear snow and ice from the premises, failed to clear snow in front of and around gas pumps, created an unnatural accumulation of ice and water near the pumps and failed to warn patrons of the slippery areas near the pumps, the suit states.

In his three-count suit, Lovell is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.

Jeffrey A. Kopis of Kopis Law Office in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-29.
