A man claims he became disabled and disfigured after a driver rear-ended him when he stopped at a stop sign.
Charles W. Fleming Jr. filed a lawsuit Jan. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Robert M. Crawford.
Fleming claims he drove his 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck north on Old St. Louis Road and came to a stop at a stop sign controlling its intersection with Eiler Road in St. Clair County.
Suddenly, Crawford, who drove a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse north on the same road, struck the rear of Fleming's vehicle, according to the complaint.
The accident caused Fleming to experience pain and suffering, to incur medical costs and to suffer an aggravation of a pre-existing medical condition, the suit states.
Fleming blames Crawford for driving too fast, for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, for failing to keep his vehicle under control and for failing to use ordinary care.
In his two-count complaint, Fleming seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Kevin Boyne of Belleville will be representing him.
