To the Editor:
The primary election is upon us. How can any adult really believe that career politicians like Pat Quinn, Dan Hynes, Bill Brady, Kirk Dillard and Jim Ryan suddenly are going to correct the problems in state government -- especially after decades of their going along to get along with Mike Madigan and the other "Chicago problem kids" who hold elected office in Springfield?
And aren't we all skeptical that a Chicago boardroom insider and party careerist like Andy McKenna now suddenly can become a credible reformer ... or that newcomer Adam Andrzejewski overnight has the State House savvy to carry the day in a battle with the Chicago Democrats who have "fixed" our state?
This primary election, Illinois Democrats, Independents and Republicans should cast their vote for Dan Proft for the Republican nomination for Governor.
Proft is the only candidate who recognizes the prime problem for what it is -- a state government that has been fixed to work against its own citizens. Proft is the only candidate who will make the "Chicago problem kids" play defense for a change. He's a policy wonk with a confirmed commitment, ahard heart and a firm focus.
If you're tired of your Illinois income taxes being funneled to big ticket Chicago transportation, tollway and school bureaucracies that fail to fulfill their missions but somehow do succeed in filling the "Chicago problem kids" campaign coffers, then Proft's plan to re direct funding from these bureaucracies to individuals will interest you.
If you think your Illinois state taxes are too low or just right, there are plenty of traditional Democratic and Republican candidates out there to choose from.
If you think your taxes are too high, you should vote for the only candidate who will lower corporate taxes to bring jobs back to Illinois, lower personal income taxes to let you keep more of what you earn, and to eliminate the state estate tax to keep family businesses and family farms in the family from generation to generation. Dan Proft is the only candidate who advocates these policies.
Proft is the only gubernatorial candidate who will disband the Health Facilities Planning Board, Tony Rezko's old piggy bank, and give our local communities the right to determine if they need a hospital or not. Proft is a leader in reform of a legal liability system that drains our communities of doctors and replaces them with lawyers.
Proft is similar to another conservative reformer, Illinois Supreme Court Justice Lloyd Karmeier. In a state run by political fixers and entrenched "Chicago problem kids," Karmeier won, not by blurring the distinctions, but by spotlighting the human misery caused by the policies of the political establishment. Like Karmeier, Proft has been exposing the structural corruption of both parties.
Aren't we all sick and tired of getting scammed by our own State government? Let's all celebrate a revolution in Illinois like the ones in Massachusetts and New Jersey.
