Sharky's Sports Bar in Maryville is being sued over injuries a customer suffered after tripping on a rug.
Frances Boothman claims in a suit filed in Madison County Circuit Court Jan. 19 that she sustained severe right arm and shoulder injuries after falling in the establishment on Jan. 21, 2006.
She claims Sharky's negligently failed to properly maintain the rug and carelessly furnished inadequate lighting. As a result of her injuries she has become liable for large sums of money in hospital, medical and related expenses, the suit claims.
Her husband, Robert Boothman, is a co-plaintiff claiming that because of the incident he has been deprived of the love, companionship, consortium and support to which he was entitled from his spouse.
The Boothmans are seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages.
They are represented by James R. Williams of Williams, Caponi, Foley & Eckert in Belleville.
