Suit against Wicks Lounge settles shortly before closing arguments

Ruth

A seven year-old negligence case ended Thursday, settling even as it went to a Madison County jury.

The settlement was announced just before closing arguments Thursday but no details were available.

Details of the original complaint were not available in the documents in the case file.

Plaintiff Michael York filed a negligence claim against Wicks Lounge, its owner and other defendants.

According to defense attorney Ralph Derango of Swansea, the complaint stemmed from injuries York claimed to have suffered when he was ejected from the Wicks Lounge by its bouncing staff. York fell and claimed to have injured his face as well as to have been assaulted.

The suit, according to Derango, was brought against multiple defendants including several unnamed defendants.

The trial began Tuesday.

Madison County Circuit Judge Dennis Ruth presided.

York is represented by Christopher Cueto and others.

All of the defendants were represented by Ralph Derango.

The case is Madison case number 03-L-562.
