Plaintiffs claim driver turned left in front of oncoming vehicle

Two women have filed suit against a driver who they say hit their vehicle when he attempted to make a left-hand turn in front of them.

Cindy E. Guy and Mary Beth Guy filed a lawsuit Jan. 7 in Madison County Circuit Court against Kenneth O. Mesle II.

The Guys claim Cindy Guy drove north on Illinois Route 4 near Fruit Road while Mary Beth Guy traveled beside her as her passenger. At the same time, Mesle drove south on Route 4 when he attempted to make a left turn onto Fruit Road, but crashed into the Guys' vehicle instead, according to the complaint.

Because of the accident, the Guys sustained pain, suffering and disability; incurred medical expenses; suffered emotional distress; and experienced an impaired ability to participate in their normal activities, the suit states. In addition, they suffered disfigurement, the complaint says.

They blame Mesle for the accident, saying he negligently failed to reduce his speed when crossing an intersection, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision and failed to yield the right-of-way.

In the two-count suit, the Guys seek a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Michael S. McKinley of Prusak, Winne and McKinley in Peoria will be representing them.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-14.
