Pool Pros claims Bethalto man owes $20k on in-ground pool

A pool company claims a Bethalto man failed to pay it more than $20,000 which allegedly remains owed to the company after it installed an in-ground pool for him.

Aquatic Enterprises Inc. doing business as Pool Pros claims it agreed to install an in-ground vinyl swimming pool and associated improvements at Kenneth E. Slayden's home at 2 Oak Crest Dr. in Bethalto for the cost of $74,665.

By Aug. 29, 2008, Pool Pros completed the work at Slayden's home, according to the complaint filed Dec. 28 in Madison County Circuit Court.

However, Slayden still owes the company $22,940 for the work, the suit states.

"Without just cause or excuse, and despite the demands of Pool Pros, defendant has refused to pay plaintiff the final invoice for the construction of said improvements," the complaint says.

In addition to the money it says it is due, Pool Pros is seeking pre-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

David T. Butsch of Butsch, Simeri, Fields in Clayton will be representing it.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1404.
