A woman claims she incurred neck and back injuries after a driver rear-ended her in Washington Park.
Andrea N. Ashford filed a lawsuit in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Sandra M. Herzog.
Ashford claims she drove west on St. Clair Avenue on March 31 at its intersection with Kingshighway/Illinois Route 111 when Herzog struck the rear of her vehicle.
In addition to her neck and back injuries, Ashford became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; sustained injuries to the soft tissues of her cervical, shoulder and lumbar areas; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint. In addition, she suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering and lost wages, the suit states.
Ashford blames Herzog for allegedly negligently failing to keep a proper lookout, for driving in such a manner that she struck the rear of Ashford's vehicle, for failing to properly apply her brakes, for driving too fast and for following Herzog too closely.
Ashford seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Thomas C. Rich and Jennifer L. Barbieri of Fairview Heights will be representing her.
