Customer trips at Jack and Jill's, sues in St. Clair County

A woman claims she suffered from a broken femur after tripping over a cord at her hair dresser's.

Rosemary Rettig filed a lawsuit Dec. 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jack and Jill's Cut, Color and Create.

Rettig claims she visited Jack and Jill's when, while having her hair styled, Rettig tripped over a cord and fell.

Because of her fall, Rettig suffered severe injuries, including the broken femur; suffered permanent pain, mental anguish, disability and disfigurement; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint. In addition, she has been prevented from attending to her usual duties and lost wages, the suit states.

Rettig blames Jack and Jill's for failing to keep its premises free of hazards, for failing to implement policies to ensure its premises were free of hazards and for failing to warn patrons of potential hazards.

Rettig seeks a judgment of more than $75,000, plus costs.

Thomas Q. Keefe Jr. will be representing Rettig.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-660.
