A Dupo man says he sustained severe and disabling injuries after the driver of a vehicle struck a parked car.
Wesley G. Davenport filed a lawsuit Dec. 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Shawn M. Braddum.
Davenport claims while he rode as a passenger in a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier Braddum drove on Carter Street near its intersection with Kaestner Drive in Dupo on March 15 at about 9:10 p.m., Braddum struck a parked Ford Explorer in front of 408 Carter.
Because of the accident, Davenport sustained disability and disfigurement, which have caused him physical and mental anguish, and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.
Davenport blames Braddum for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, for failing to stop in a safe manner and for failing to maintain control of his vehicle.
Davenport seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Stephen C. Buser of the Law Office of Stephen C. Buser in Columbia will be representing him.
