The Vanguard Corporation is demanding a man repay it $50,000 for money it lent to him in June.
Vanguard filed a lawsuit Nov. 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Michael James Dodd.
Vanguard claims it entered into a $50,000 promissory note with Dodd on June 18.
"All loans made by plaintiff to defendant are repayable 'on demand,'" the suit states. "Plaintiff has demanded repayment of said $50,000. Defendant has failed and refused to repay said $50,000."
In addition to the money it says Dodd owes it, Vanguard seeks interest at 5 percent per annum from June 18 through Nov. 23, plus judgment interest and costs.
Robert G. Wuller Jr. of Neville, Richards and Wuller in Belleville will be representing him.
