Dad sues son's race track attacker

The father of a 17-year-old filed suit against a boy who he says punched his son in the face, allegedly causing excessive dental damage.

In his lawsuit filed Nov. 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Joseph P. Granda claims his son, Hayden J. Granda, was at the Enduro Race Track in Belleville with defendant Larry Davis on Oct. 4, 2008, when Davis intentionally struck Granda in the face with a closed fist.

"As a direct and proximate result of the aforesaid intentional act of Defendant, Plaintiff suffered injuries to his face and teeth," the suit states. "He suffered a broken crown on one of his teeth, a broken upper incisor and will in the future have to have further dental work. Plaintiff also suffered a cut lip."

Joseph P. Granda is seeking actual damages of more than $50,000 and punitive damages of more than $100,000, plus costs.

John L. McMullitt of Brown and James in St. Louis will be representing him.
