A man claims he was seriously bruised after a driver struck the vehicle in which he was riding.
Timothy Stafford filed a lawsuit Oct. 22 in Madison County Circuit Court against Joy Lee Daube.
Stafford claims he was driving on Illinois Route 203 in Granite City on Nov. 15, 2007, when Daube, who was driving in the same direction, struck him.
Because of the collision, Stafford was seriously bruised and contused, suffered great pain and mental anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint. In addition, he is unable to perform his normal duties and will be forced to spend large amounts of money for the remainder of his life, the suit states.
Stafford blames Daube for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to see things that were obvious, for failing to keep her vehicle under control, for failing to use precaution to avoid a collision and for failing to drive at a proper speed.
Stafford is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000.
Morgan Scroggins of Scroggins Law Office in Granite City will be representing him.
