Man sues over injuries from Collinsville Road accident

A Madison County man is suing the driver who he says struck him as he was attempting to cross the street.

Kevin John Reid filed a complaint Oct. 21 in Madison County Circuit Court against Christopher Robert Mitchell.

Reid claims he was crossing the street at Collinsville Road on Nov. 9, 2007, when Mitchell, who was driving a Honda Civic, struck him in the leg.

Because of the accident, Reid suffered bruises, contusions, breaks and infections to his legs, neck, back and arms, according to the complaint. In addition, he incurred medical costs and continues to suffer from broken bones and infection, which has prevented him from returning to his normal employment, the suit states.

Reid blames Mitchell for allegedly failing to yield the right-of-way, for failing to pay attention to others on the road and for driving faster than the speed limit.

Reid is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000 to compensate him for his injuries, plus money for medical costs, an additional sum for pain and suffering and costs.

Steven S. Fluhr of Fluhr and Moore in Clayton will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1120.
