A woman who claims she was attacked by a pit bull has filed suit against the dog's owners.
In a complaint filed Oct. 20 in Madison County Circuit Court, Pamela A. Moore claims she intended to visit defendant Bluff City Tours, owned by defendants Gregory A. and Patricia D. Gelzinnis, on Aug. 10.
But as Moore was opening the front door of the Godfrey establishment, she was attacked by the Gelzinnis' pit bull named Precious, according to the complaint.
"The pit bull named Precious, without provocation, attacked Plaintiff, biting her in the upper arm, bicep and tricep areas thereby permanently injuring and wounding Plaintiff," the suit states.
As a result of the attack, Moore suffered great fright, shock, physical and mental pain and anguish and inconvenience and missed time from work, the complaint says. In addition, Moore claims she incurred medical costs, has suffered permanent numbness, scarring, disfigurement and injury to her upper arm, and lost her enjoyment of life.
At the time of the attack, the Gelzinnises had no signs outside their business warning of the dog's presence, the complaint says.
In the three-count suit, Moore is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Christopher A. Wright of Millikan Wright in St. Louis will be representing her.
