Caravan on Old Troy Road struck, says injury suit

The mother of a young girl has filed suit against the driver who she says attempted to turn left at an intersection, but collided with them instead.

Desiree D. Jellen claims she was driving a Dodge Caravan minivan south on Old Troy Road at its intersection with Glen Crossing Road in Edwardsville Township on Feb. 16. At the time, Desiree D. Jellen's minor daughter, Hannah C. Jellen, was riding in the car with her.

Suddenly, defendant Sandra F. Anderson made a left turn in front of Desiree D. Jellen while both had a green light, causing a collision, according to the complaint filed Oct. 14 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the collision, both Desiree D. Jellen and Hannah C. Jellen incurred pain, suffering, disability, loss of a normal life and loss of income and incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Anderson was negligent by failing to yield the right-of-way and by failing to keep a proper lookout.

In the two-count suit, Desiree D. Jellen is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Joseph R. Brown Jr. of Lucco, Brown, Threlkeld and Dawson in Edwardsville will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1098.
