Queeny Avenue accident subject of St. Clair County suit

A St. Louis County woman has filed suit against the driver of a vehicle who she says attempted to turn left but instead struck her.

Paula Hill claims she was driving north on Mississippi Avenue on Feb. 28 when defendant Brandon Thomas, who was making a left turn onto Queeny Avenue, suddenly struck her.

Because of the accident, Hill suffered cervical difficulties, lumbocaral injuries and knee injury; sustained bruises, contusions, twisting, ripping, swelling and ruptures all over her body; and experienced a diminished enjoyment of life, according to the complaint filed Oct. 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. In addition, she incurred medical expenses, the suit states.

Co-plaintiff Henry Metcalfe claims he owned the vehicle in which Hill was struck at the time of the collision, the complaint says.

Hill and Metcalfe blame Thomas for failing to yield to oncoming traffic and for failing to keep a careful lookout.

In the two-count suit, Hill is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000. Metcalfe is also seeking compensatory damages. Both are seeking pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

They will be represented by Brian Stokes of The Stokes Law Office in St. Louis.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-551.
