A man has filed suit against the driver who he says rear-ended him.
Cory Bishop filed a lawsuit Oct. 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Leon Hampton.
Bishop claims he was driving west across the Poplar Street Bridge in East St. Louis on Oct. 18, 2008, when Hampton collided with the rear of his vehicle.
Because of the collision, Bishop suffered injuries to his head, neck and back, incurred medical costs and lost income, the suit states.
Bishop blames Hampton for driving at an excessive rate of speed, for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and for driving too close to another vehicle.
Bishop is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Christopher A. Allen of Fox, Goldblatt and Singer in St. Louis will be representing him.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-547.
