Injuries claimed in Edwardsville Road accident

By Kelly Holleran | Oct 9, 2009

A woman says she was rear-ended after the driver behind her failed to stop in adequate time.

Melissa Luksza claims she was driving east on Edwardsville Road on Aug. 11, 2008, when Tyler Shelton, who was also driving east, struck the rear of her vehicle.

Because of the accident, Luksza's face, nose and back were injured, she suffered pain and she incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Oct. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Shelton negligently failed to keep his vehicle under control, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to brake for a vehicle stopped in front of him, failed to reduce his speed to avoid an accident and failed to drive at a reasonable speed, the suit states.

Luksza is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

She will be represented by Edward Unsell of East Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1054.
