Rear-end accident in Collinsville is subject of suit

A man claims he sustained multiple injuries after a driver rear-ended him.

Isaac Wayne Childers claims he was driving east on Horseshoe Lake Road at its intersection with North Bluff Road in Collinsville on May 15 at about 12:48 p.m. when Nicole J. Munden, who was also driving east, struck the rear of his vehicle.

Because of the accident, Childers was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled, suffered extensive injuries to his head, body, limbs, neck, back, right arm, hand, shoulder, hip and leg and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Oct. 1 in Madison County Circuit Court. In addition, Childers suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering, lost wages and suffered an impaired earning capacity, the suit states.

Munden negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner that she struck the rear of Childers' vehicle, failed to properly apply her brakes, drove too fast, followed Munden's vehicle too closely and drove without adequate brakes, the complaint says.

Childers is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

John H. Hustava of Collinsville will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1047.
