21 new asbestos cases filed in Madison County Aug. 17-21

A total of 21 new asbestos suits were filed in Madison County Circuit Court during the week of Aug. 17 through Aug. 21.

The following complaints were filed:

--Denis Barnes, a gas station attendant, laborer, machine operator and home remodeler at various locations from 1956 until 1979, claims mesothelioma. Barnes is represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. Browder and Rosalind M. Robertson of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. --Jacqueline Bourassa of Massachusetts claims her recently deceased husband, Leo Bourassa, developed mesothelioma after his work as a pipefitter at various locations from 1957 until 1979. Bourassa is represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. Browder and Rosalind M. Robertson of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd in East Alton. --Robert Boyer of Missouri, a laborer and gas station attendant at various locations from 1972 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Boyer is represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. Browder and Rosalind M. Robertson of Simmons, Browder, Gianaris, Angelides and Barnerd. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-845.

--Richard Brockman of South Carolina, a pipefitter and pipe welder from 1962 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Brockman is represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. Browder and Rosalind M. --Clarabelle M. Clark of Ohio claims her recently deceased husband, Donald B. Clark, developed lung cancer after his work as a boiler operator in the U.S. Navy from 1946 until 1950, as a boiler operator for Dibles Plumbing and Heating from 1950 until 1951, for Porcelain Products Co. from 1952 until 1953, for Moral Foundry from 1953 until 1954 and for National Machinery beginning in 1954. Donald B. Clark was also secondarily exposed to asbestos through his father's work at Murphy Brothers Foundry, according to the complaint. Clarabelle M. Clark is represented by Elizabeth V. --Lona J. Cribley of Michigan claims her recently deceased husband, Billy G. Cribley, developed lung cancer after his work as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 until 1956, as a farmer from 1956 until 1960, as a worker for Gulf Stream Coach from 1960 until 1967, as an oil well insulator from 1967 until 1969, as an insulator and painter from 1970 until 1977, as a laborer for General Motors from 1977 until 1990 and as an insulator from 1997 until 2004. --Larry Culvahouse of Indiana, a laborer at various locations from 1965 until 1979, claims lung cancer. Culvahouse is represented by Robert Phillips, Perry J. Browder and Rosalind M. --Grady O. and Marline Estes of Alabama claim Grady Estes developed mesothelioma after his work at Firestone Tire and Rubber from 1944 until 1945, as a grinder for Midland Steel from 1956 until 1957, as a painter at Victor Chemical Works in 1960, as a steel worker for Munster Steel from 1960 until 1978 and as a pipefitter for Viking Engineering from 1978 until 1982. The Estes are represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-858.

--Hilbert and Sally Flokstra of Florida claim Hilbert Flokstra developed mesothelioma after his work as a carpenter for Gray and Banks Construction from 1954 until 1968, as a carpenter for Fred O'Grady Construction from 1968 until 1970, as a carpenter for H&R Flokstra Construction from 1970 until 1971 and from 1976 until 1984, as a teacher of woodworking classes from 1976 until 1980 and as a supervisor and carpenter for Tom Woods Construction from 1984 until 1986. The Flokstras are represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland of Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-857.

--Salvador Gonzalez of California claims his recently deceased father, Salvador Gonzalez Sr., developed mesothelioma after his work as a laborer from 1975 until 1979. --Mack J. Hambicki of Arizona, a mechanic, laborer and manager at Hambicki Brothers from 1963 until 1978, a mechanic at Auto Pallets from 1961 until 1963, a laborer and mechanic at Valley Waste, a truck driver and mechanic at American Gooseneck, a mechanic, laborer and manager at HBI and a manager and laborer at HBI Brothers, alleges mesothelioma. --Jens Kieler of Washington claims his recently deceased father, Hermann E. Kuljurgis, developed mesothelioma after his work as a repairman and electrician from 1956 until 1979. --Ronald and Margaret Killebrew of Pennsylvania allege Ronald Killebrew developed mesothelioma after his work as a mechanic at several auto body shops from 1961 until 1968, as a laborer and assembler at Sears Manufacturing from 1968 until 1973 and as a laborer for Kaufman's from 1973 until 2000. --Randel Ladd of Tennessee claims his recently deceased brother, Paul E. Ladd, developed mesothelioma after his work as a member of the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1954. After his discharge, Ladd worked at the Roane Hoseiry Mill, according to the complaint. Randel Ladd will be represented by Elizabeth V. --Carlos Madrid of California claims his recently deceased brother, Hector Madrid, developed mesothelioma after his work as a longshoreman at various locations from 1969 until 1979. --Theresa Martin of Illinois claims her recently deceased husband, Rodger Martin, developed mesothelioma after his work as a supervisor at various locations from 1956 until 1991. --Deanna Pritchett of Missouri claims her recently deceased father, Keith Everman, developed mesothelioma after his work as a fireman, switch adjuster and plumber at various locations throughout Illinois and Nebraska from 1944 until the late 1990s. --Beverly A. Showalter of Illinois claims her recently deceased father, Frederick A. Balster, developed lung cancer after his work at Amoco Oil for more than 50 years. --Kimberly Sylvester of Illinois claims her recently deceased father, Peter Kostiuk Jr., developed lung cancer after his work as a laborer from 1960 until 1979 at various locations. --Geraldine Tepper of Florida claims her recently deceased brother, Marvin Tepper, developed mesothelioma after his work as a printing press operator at various locations from 1962 until 1979. --Robin Unger of Minnesota claims her recently deceased father, Willie Unger, developed lung cancer after his work as a laborer, welder and home remodeler at various locations from 1960 until 1979.
