Motion hearing in Buske divorce continued

A hearing over educational trusts and a motion to vacate an order enjoining S.C. Johnson from collecting on a judgment against Thomas Buske has been rescheduled.

The hearing in Thomas Buske's on-going divorce from his wife, Sara Buske, was to begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday. There is no information currently in the court docket as to when the hearing will be held.

The motion hearing had previously been rescheduled due to an attorney's scheduled appearance at a trial in Greene County.

Household wares maker, S.C. Johnson, is asking Madison County Associate Judge Thomas Chapman to completely vacate an earlier Madison County court order enjoining the company from collecting on a $203.8 million civil judgment from Wisconsin against Thomas Buske. Thomas Buske, the owner of trucking concerns, is charged in a Wisconsin federal court with defrauding S.C. Johnson of millions.

S.C. Johnson has sought to intervene in the Buske divorce, claiming the couple has colluded to deprive S.C. Johnson of the money it is owed.

Sara Buske filed for divorce eight days after the $203.8 million judgment was entered in June 2008. In December 2008, Madison County Associate Judge Duane Bailey – then presiding over the case – enjoined S.C. Johnson from collecting on the judgment in December of that year. He also denied the company standing to intervene in the divorce because the issue of collusion goes to grounds which only the divorcing parties can speak to.

The divorce was given the go-ahead in June of this year.

Bailey's December order was overruled by an appellate court. Bailey was reassigned shortly after.

Thomas Buske's attorney Vicki Cochran of St. Louis filed an objection to S.C. Johnson's move to vacate Bailey's enjoinment order earlier this week.

S.C. Johnson is represented by Andrew Velloff of Alton and Thomas Keefe Jr. of Swansea.

Sara Buske is represented by Howard Feldman.
