Rear-ended at red light, man claims in suit

A man has filed suit against a driver who he says rear-ended him while he was stopped at a red light.

Michael J. Bauman claims he stopped at a red light as he was traveling west on East Broadway at its intersection with Ridge Street on June 9, 2008.

According to the complaint filed July 24 in Madison County Circuit Court, Tiffany Allen, who was also driving west on East Broadway, failed to stop and collided with the rear of Bauman's vehicle.

Because of the accident, Bauman experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical costs, lost income and experienced an impaired earning capacity, the suit states.

Allen negligently drove too fast, failed to keep her vehicle under control, failed to keep her brakes in proper working order, failed to keep a proper lookout, followed Bauman's vehicle too closely, failed to avoid placing Bauman in danger and failed to reduce her speed, the complaint says.

Bauman is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

He will be represented by Stephen M. Dioneda of Kullman, Klein and Dioneda in St. Louis.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-766.
