O'Fallon rear-end accident is subject of suit

Two Illinois residents have filed suit against a driver who they say is responsible for rear-ending the vehicle in which they were riding.

Ramona Turner and Michael Skinner filed a lawsuit July 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Kenneth Knoth.

Turner and Skinner claim Skinner was riding in a vehicle Turner was driving north on Scott Troy Road on Aug. 31, 2007.

When she came to Scott Troy Road's intersection with Illinois Highway 50, Turner stopped. At the same time, Knoth, who was also driving north on Scott Troy Road, collided with her vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Turner and Skinner sustained injuries to their necks, heads and backs, the suit states.

Both plaintiffs claim their ability to work, labor and enjoy life has been impaired and that they have incurred medical costs.

They blame Knoth for driving too fast, for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to maintain control of his vehicle, for failing to stop or swerve, for driving too close to Turner's vehicle and for striking the rear of Turner's vehicle.

In the two-count suit, Turner and Skinner are seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Amanda N. Murphy of Fox, Goldblatt and Singer in St. Louis will be representing them.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-391.
