A man claims that a woman's failure to stop at a red light resulted in his severe and permanent injuries.
Anthony J. Bach filed a lawsuit July 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Samantha E. Demarest.
Bach claims he was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger south on Illinois State Route 159 near its intersection with Douglas Road on Sept. 22 when he stopped at a red light.
According to the complaint, Demarest, who was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am south on the same road, failed to stop and crashed into the back of Bach's car.
The complaint says Bach suffered cervicalgia, disability, loss of a normal life, pain and suffering and incurred medical expenses.
Bach blames Demarest for driving too fast, for failing to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, for failing to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles on the road, for following Bach's vehicle too closely and for failing to stop when danger was imminent.
Bach is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Del A. Goldenhersh of Knapp, Ohl, Green and Marron in Edwardsville will be representing him.
