11 asbestos claims filed July 13-17 in Madison County

A total of 11 new asbestos lawsuits were filed in Madison County during the week of July 13 through July 17.

The following claims were filed:

--Barbara R. Brobst of Pennsylvania claims her recently deceased husband, Ernest F. Brobst, developed mesothelioma after he served in the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and after his work as a home remodeler from 1947 until 1994. Barbara R. Brobst is represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-728.

--Jesse W. and Mollie Clements claim Jesse Clements developed mesothelioma after his work as a furnace installer at Red Boyer in 1945, as a carpenter's helper and carpenter from 1947 until 1956, as a missionary and social worker at various private churches from 1957 until 1976, as a missionary and social worker performing home construction and repair work from 1977 until 1981, as a maintenance and carpentry man from 1983 until 1985, as a carpenter for a non-profit center from 1985 until 2003 and as a home remodeler and repairman for his home from 1958 until 1962 and from 1977 until 1978. Jesse W. Carpenter was also secondarily exposed to asbestos through his father, who worked as a pumpman at Shell Oil Refinery from 1934 until 1948. The Clements are represented by Randi L. Gori of Gori, Julian and Associates in Alton. W. Mark Lanier, Patrick N. Haines, Angela B. Greenburg, Sam T. Richard, Bridget B. Truxillo and Lauren H. --Fred L. Hall Sr. and Betty D. Hall of South Carolina claim Fred L. Hall Sr. developed mesothelioma after serving in the U.S. Navy from 1946 until 1949 and after working at the Charleston Naval Shipyard from 1952 until 1964 and at the Naval Weapons Station from 1964 until 1970. Hall is represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-730.

--Daniel Haun of Tennessee, a mechanic, laborer and exterminator at various locations from 1973 until 2009, claims mesothelioma. Haun is represented by Brian J. Cooke of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-727.

--Curtis and Alice Hines of Indiana claim Curtis Hines developed mesothelioma after his work as a janitor from 1960 until 1962 and from 1979 until 1983 and as a boatswain's mate at various locations. The Hines are represented by Donald M. Flack of Flack Law Office in Wood River. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-738.

--Mary J. Hultgren of Florida claims her recently deceased husband, Roy C. Hultgren, developed mesothelioma after his work as a machine operator, carpenter's apprentice, carpenter and contractor at various locations throughout Illinois and Florida. Mary J. Hultgren is represented by T. Barton French Jr. and Jackalyn A. Olinger of French and Mudd in St. Louis. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-729.

--Wilbert and Joyce Jones of Missouri claim Wilbert Jones developed lung cancer after his work as a laborer in Jeanerette, La., from 1960 until 1964, as a laborer for Blue Line Chemical Company and Switzer Candy Company from 1964 until 1966 and as a laborer at Independent Packing House from 1966 until 1970 and at Anheuser-Busch Brewery from 1970 until 2001. The Jones are represented by Elizabeth V. Heller and Robert Rowland of Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli and Rowland in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-731.

--Thomas and Virginia Kersting of Missouri allege Thomas Kersting developed mesothelioma after his work as a sheet metal worker at various locations in 1953 and from 1959 until 1996. The Kerstings are represented by John A. Barnerd of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-735.

--Orville and Sylvia Mueth of Illinois allege Orville Mueth developed esophageal cancer after his work as a manager, electrician and plumber at various locations from 1942 until 1996. The Mueths are represented by Christopher R. Guinn and Christopher J. Levy of SimmonsCooper in East Alton. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-733.

--Charles W. Welden Jr. of Alabama, a sheetrock and drywall installer from the early 1970s until now, a carpenter from 1972 until 1977, a brake worker during the 1970s and 1980s and an airport mechanic from 1979 until 1987, claims mesothelioma. Welden is represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian and Associates in Edwardsville. Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-739.

--Joshua J. Wise of Illinois claims a recently deceased man, Eddy Lee Grady, developed lung cancer after his work as a laborer at International Vermiculite Co. from 1965 until 1969, as a butcher at Girard Meat Locker from 1966 until 1968, as a carpenter at Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad from 1969 until 1970, as a carpenter at National Homes from 1972 until 1974, as a laborer at Hulcher Train Wrecking from 1973 until 1974 and as a laborer for Springfield Plastics from 1975 until 1976.
