A woman claims her neck, back and head were seriously injured after a driver attempted to make a u-turn in front of the vehicle in which she was riding.
Amber McCane filed a lawsuit July 17 in Madison County Circuit Court against Catherine DeWitt.
McCane claims she was riding in a vehicle Patrick Delisio was driving on July 20, 2008.
"Defendant was operating a motor vehicle and while traveling Westbound on Illinois Route 143, carelessly and negligently conducted an improper u-turn from the right lane across the center lane into the left lane and collided with the motor vehicle in which Plaintiff was a passenger in, causing plaintiff serious injuries," the complaint says.
In addition to her neck, back and head injuries, McCane suffered great physical pain, mental anguish and an impaired function of her body parts, according to the complaint. She has also incurred medical and other related expenses, the suit states.
McCane blames DeWitt for driving too fast, for failing to keep a lookout, for failing to sound a warning of her approach, for coming into the lane of travel in which McCane was traveling and for making an improper u-turn.
McCane is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Ronald Caimi of Brown and Crouppen in St. Louis will be representing her.
