A man who says he suffered disability and disfigurement after an accident has filed suit against the driver who he blames for failing to stop while attempting to make a left turn.
Kent Tiemann filed a lawsuit July 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Emmett Salmons.
Tiemann claims he was driving his 1999 Ford Taurus west on Main Street at its intersection with 59th Street in Belleville when Salmons, who was driving his 2001 Lincoln Continental east on Main Street, attempted to make a left-hand turn. Instead, Salmons collided with Tiemann, according to the complaint.
In addition to his disability and disfigurement, Tiemann claims he experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical bills and lost income as a result of the accident.
He blames Salmons for failing to yield the right-of-way, for driving too fast, for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to keep his vehicle under control and for failing to use ordinary care to avoid a collision and to avoid placing others in danger.
Tiemann is seeking actual damages of more than $50,000, plus costs.
