A woman has filed suit against the driver who she says was responsible for causing a collision in which she sustained disabling injuries.
Darlene M. Leyden claims she was driving south on North Illinois Street near its intersection with Parkway Drive in Swansea on Sept. 4 when Chelsea M. Minor, who was also driving south on the same road, collided with her.
Because of the accident, Leyden incurred medical expenses, experienced great pain, suffering and emotional distress and was unable to carry out her usual and ordinary daily activities, according to the complaint filed July 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. She also lost wages, the suit states.
Minor negligently drove too fast for traffic on the road, failed to reduce her speed, failed to keep a sufficient lookout and drove into the rear of Leyden's vehicle, the complaint says.
Leyden is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
She is represented by Gregory D. Abel, Cindy R. Baum, Kurt A. Budke and Coryn I. Steinfeld of McNally Law Offices in Decatur.
