A Washington County man is suing the driver of a vehicle who he says ran into his vehicle while he was driving west on Illinois Route 177.
Oliver Schrader filed a lawsuit July 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jacob McGeathy.
Schrader claims he was driving on Illinois Route 177 on Sept. 25, 2007, and was approaching its intersection with Illinois Route 160 in Clinton County when McGeathy, who was driving south on Illinois Route 160, ran into his vehicle after failing to stop at a stop sign.
"Plaintiff was thrown and hurled with great force and violence to and fro in said vehicle causing Plaintiff to be injured in the body and limbs, externally and internally, and causing bodily pain and injury," the suit states.
In addition, Schrader incurred substantial medical costs, the complaint says.
Schrader blames McGeathy for failing to stop at a stop sign, for failing to avoid striking Schrader's vehicle and for failing to keep a proper lookout.
Schrader is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Timothy P. Fleming of O'Fallon will be representing him.
