A woman has filed suit against Target, alleging she injured her right knee after falling while shopping at the store.
Julie Stamper says she was a Target customer on June 16 and was walking down the main aisle of the store located at 300 East Homer Adams Parkway in Alton when her left foot slipped on a slippery substance, causing her to fall.
In addition to her right knee injury, Stamper suffered pain of her body and mind, incurred medical costs and lost sums of money she would otherwise have been able to make, according to the complaint filed July 1 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Target negligently allowed a slippery substance to remain on the floor when it knew the substance created a risk to its customers, failed to maintain the floor in a safe condition and failed to warn Stamper of the unsafe condition, the suit states.
Stamper is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
She is represented by J. Robert Edmonds of Mormino, Velloff, Edmond and Snider in Alton.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-684.
