A woman filed a lawsuit against Alton Memorial Hospital, alleging her back and right knee were injured after she slipped on water.
Barbara Liner says she was visiting Alton Memorial Hospital on Aug. 25, 2007, when she fell on water.
Because of the incident, Liner experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical costs, lost wages and experienced disability, according to the complaint filed June 25 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Alton Memorial Hospital negligently permitted an unnatural accumulation of water on the floor, permitted the water to remain on the floor for an extended period of time, invited patrons into the hospital when they knew it was unsafe to do so, failed to make a reasonable inspection of the floor and failed to warn their customers of the unnatural accumulation of water, the suit states.
Liner is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
She will be represented by Lance R. Mallon and Dawna M. Hale of Mallon Law Firm in Wood River.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-667.
