A Lenzburg man says he was wrongly fired from a construction company in retaliation for his filing of workers' compensation.
On April 28, Jack Grau filed a lawsuit in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bechtel Construction Company, saying he was involved in a job accident while working for the company in Lively Grove on July 16.
Because of the accident, Grau claims he was unable to work and was temporarily totally disabled. As a result of his injuries, Grau became entitled to workers' compensation, the complaint says.
However, after Grau filed for the workers' compensation, Bechtel fired him, according to court records.
As a result of his termination, Grau says he suffered a loss of income and benefits, mental and physical anguish and pain.
In the two-count suit, Grau is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Jon E. Rosenstengel of Bonifield and Rosenstengel in Belleville will be representing him.
