Rear-end collision on Route 158 is subject of suit

A Belleville man has filed suit against a Caseyville company and one of its employees, alleging he suffered severe pain after the employee rear-ended him.

Robert D. Nicholson claims he was driving west on Illinois Route 158 in St. Clair County on Oct. 2.

After Nicholson turned on his left turn signal and as he was slowing down to turn into a private driveway, Eric J. Wolf, an employee of The Munie Company who was driving behind Nicholson, struck the back of his car, according to the complaint filed April 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Because of the accident, Nicholson was injured and suffered lost wages, lost enjoyment of life, pain and disability, the suit states.

Nicholson says Wolf was negligent by failing to reduce his speed, by driving too fast, by failing to keep a proper lookout and by failing to exercise reasonable care.

The Munie Company is liable because Wolf is its employee.

In the two-count suit, Nicholson is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Jarrod P. Beasley of The Kuehn Law Firm in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-218.
