A woman has filed suit against Mama Mia's Italian restaurant, alleging she tripped over the uneven surface of the restaurant's parking lot.
Joyce A. Jones claims she "tripped and fell over an uneven portion of defendant's parking lot," on March 25, 2007, the suit filed March 20 in Madison County Circuit Court claims.
Because of her fall, Jones sustained serious and permanent injuries, was prevented from attending to her usual duties and affairs and has lost the value of her time, the suit states.
Jones also claims she incurred medical bills.
Mama Mia's failed to warn patrons of its parking lot's dangerous condition, failed to provide a safe parking lot, failed to fix the parking lot to prevent the dangerous condition, failed to inspect the premises to make sure they were in a safe condition and permitted the parking lot to be constructed in an unsafe way, according to the complaint.
Jones is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
She is represented by Randall P. Steele of Steele Law Offices in Glen Carbon.
