A woman is suing Hanks Excavating and the driver of its vehicle over injuries she claims from an auto accident.
In a complaint filed March 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Monica Young-Beverly claims she was driving a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse north on Greenmount Road at its intersection with Interstate 64 east in Shiloh on Sept. 26 at about 2:35 p.m.
At the same time, Ryan D. Beck was driving south on Greenmount Road at its intersection with Interstate 64 east. He was working for Hanks Excavating and Landscaping when the collision occurred, the complaint says.
Beck lost control of his car, crossed the center median and struck the front of Young-Beverly's vehicle, the suit states.
As a result, Young-Beverly was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled, suffered extensive injuries to her head, neck, should, low back, right knee and to the soft tissues of her cervical, shoulder and lumbar area and incurred medical expenses, she claims.
She also suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering, lost money from a loss of wages, will suffer an impairment of her future earning capacity and incurred property damages to her vehicle, according to the complaint.
Beck failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a way that he struck Young-Beverly's vehicle, failed to properly apply his brakes, drove too fast for the traffic conditions, failed to give Young-Beverly at least one-half of the road as he was driving on it and drove a vehicle without adequate brakes, the suit states.
Hanks Excavating and Landscaping is liable for damages because Beck was its employee, Young-Beverly claims.
In the three-count suit, Young-Beverly is seeking a judgment in excess of $100,500, plus costs.
John H. Hustava of Collinsville will be representing her.
