ESL accident is subject of suit

A man and his wife are suing over injuries they allegedly sustained during an accident at the intersection of 22nd Street and Missouri Avenue in East St. Louis.

On March 10, Jimmie L. Jackson Jr. and Alexandria M. Wilson filed suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court, claiming that Karen R. Brown struck them while she was driving south on 22nd Street and while they were driving east on Missouri Avenue on Oct. 2.

Jimmie Jackson Jr. was made sick, sore, lame disordered and disabled, received injuries to his neck and back and received injuries to the soft tissues of his cervical, shoulder and lumbar area, the complaint says.

Alexandria Jackson allegedly received injuries to her neck, shoulder, back and jaw and to the soft tissues of her cervical, shoulder and lumbar area.

Both Jimmie and Alexandria incurred medical costs, suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering and lost money, the complaint says.

Brown failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner that she struck the Jacksons' vehicle, failed to properly apply the brakes of her vehicle, drove too fast for traffic conditions and failed to stop at a stop sign and to yield the right-of-way to approaching traffic, according to the suit.

In the two-count suit, the Jacksons are seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs.

Thomas C. Rich and Jennifer L. Barbieri of Fairview Heights will be representing them.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0128.
