Anderson, Maryville Pediatrics sued by mother of infant

The mother of a deceased infant has filed suit against Anderson Hospital, Maryville Pediatrics and a doctor, alleging her daughter died due to their negligence.

Thurstrina Tedder claims that shortly after Cheyenne Tedder's birth on June 19, 2007, she developed sores on her neck.

When Dr. Habibur Rahman examined Cheyenne Tedder on June 28, 2007, he noted two small irregular areas of erythema with superficial breaks of the skin, according to the complaint filed March 4 in Madison County Circuit Court.

After Thurstrina Tedder called the hospital to ask what should be done about the sores, employees failed take a number of steps that could have saved Cheyenne Tedder's life, such as recommend she be seen by a pediatrician, according to the complaint.

As a result, Cheyenne Tedder died, causing permanent injuries to her parents who have suffered grief and sorrow and have been deprived of her service, companionship, comfort, love and support, the suit states.

Anderson Hospital was negligent by failing to recommend follow-up treatment or examination, by failing to advise Cheyenne Tedder's parents to take her to an emergency room and by failing to recognize the seriousness of the complaints made, Thurstrina Tedder claims.

Thurstina Tedder is seeking a sum in excess of $150,000, plus costs.
